Baby Olivia's Adoption

SO .... since I wrote last on this page in January - we WERE able to meet the $7700 we needed to send our dossier in!! God! All God!!! I truly have NO idea how we were able to raise that much money from Jan-April.

And now the bad news - we have the $7700 check, which has been waiting in a FedEx envelope, since April. Waiting on that permission I previously mentioned from the US govt. Seems we got caught up in a transition period for the offices and a 30 day wait is now right at 90. Whippeee..

BUT - thankful for the many prayers I have had lifted up for us and for PEACE. Peace that we know God is in control. Peace that we know his timing is perfect. Peace that this is His work and not mine (or the governments). However, that PIECE of paper appearing in my mailbox would completely make my day a lot more peace filled! Especially if we could get this paperwork out to Ethiopia, DTE, and be waiting for the important things - like my little girl!!

So now, we are currently at about $1900 of the $5500 we will need when we receive her picture in what could be 5 months, what could be 10 months? About a month after receiving her picture/referral, we will than need about $6000 to travel to Ethiopia to court. And two months later, $6000 to go back to pick her up after the US issues an exit Visa.

So the journey is not over yet friends! Thank you for your support so much. I am so excited to include you all in God's work to bring this baby home.

$5548 including donations and savings. That's awesome! We are still working away at our dossier, have had 3 out of 4 homestudy visits completed, and will be waiting on that to be finalized and then to receive permission from the US govt. to adopt internationally. Once we receive that paper, we will need to send in our dossier, with 2 copies, to America World to be proofed and then sent to Ethiopia (DTE = Dossier to Ethiopia).

Your DTE is what puts you in line in the waiting list for an infant daughter. The wait depends on what children are leaving the transition home with their parents and what children are currently waiting for their court dates and approvals. Theoretically, the reason you have to wait is because they cannot bring MY baby in from an out-laying orphanage into the transitional home (waiting for me - or referred to our family as our daughter-2-be) until a space opens up. Waiting, waiting, and more waiting. At every stage!!

We are currently waiting on God to provide the funds needed to submit the dossier in a month or two. Since most of the funds donated have already been paid out for previous costs, we are now at only $1718 of the $7700 needed. Wow God, let's see what you have up your sleeve next! I'm trying my best not to worry but to give it all to Him. Olivia is His daughter before mine anyway and this is His work. We are just so blessed to be able to take part in it.

Did not realize that when the time ran out on a chip in event, you cannot change the date again. So I had to start a whole new slider scale, taking into account the money we were able to raise from the first fundraiser $4570!! Still chipping at our original goal of $20,000 for Olivia's adoption from Ethiopia. Thank you to all who contributed already!
